SPORT AND SOLIDARITY
The largest sporting event organised for the youth with 33 years of history. The Youth Olympic Festival was first launched in Brussels in 1991 as a summer sporting competition. Exactly two years later, winter sports were added to the summer events, with Italy hosting the first winter championship.
YOUTHFUL, URBAN, AND GENDER-EQUAL
- The EYOF promotes sport and physical activity and inspires young people to take up sport
- Following the Olympic principles, it fosters the spirit of friendship, fair play and tolerance
- The event enables youth from 50 European countries to meet, thereby fostering European integration.
- The EYOF is a great opportunity for hundreds of young volunteers to gain experience organising a big event, develop their working skills and meet people from other European countries
